Nappy G (a.k.a. G-Don) is a Brooklyn-based producer,dj & long-time percussionist in NYC's dance club scene. A veteran frontman in his own right,Nappy G has shifted his energies & used his musical expertise to become a respected beatmaker & digital music composer, as well as video editor/director.

As a DJ, NAPPY G is known for his unique take on Latin rhythms & Afro-based sounds, flavored & accented by his deep history of Soul, Hiphop & Funk.

He created a new style of music that fuses these sounds & it's called the "FUNKY PASSPORT" sound!

Now, NAPPY G is spreading this sound around the world, & bringing it to a club/dancefloor/city near you!!

This style brings together uptempo music (Tropicales,Latin House,Electro,Kuduro,Afro House,Bailefunk,Samba),mixes it with midtempo sounds (Moombahton,Funky Breaks,Bhangra,NuSoul), spices it up with rare traditional classic sounds from all over the globe (Reggae,Salsa,Cumbia,Souk,Rumba,Tropicalia,etc.) & turns up the heat with Global Hiphop from countries all over the world!

The FUNKY PASSPORT sound is feeding peoples' souls & lighting up dancefloors everywhere NAPPY G plays.

As a solo DJ/percussionist/MC, Nappy G. performs regularly around the urban centers of America,esp. focusing on the New York/Atlanta/L.A./San Fran areas,including long-running monthly parties@ BEMBE(Brklyn,NY) & NuBlu/nyc; numerous guest appearances @ San Francisco's weekly AFROLICIOUS party; & weekly Summertime residencies at the legendary TURNTABLES ON THE HUDSON parties (11 years strong!)

In the summers of 2011 & 2009 Nappy G performed internationally as a club dj in Budapest & Pécs(HUNGARY);Vienna (AUSTRIA);Chur & Zurich (SWITZERLAND);Ibiza,Barcelona,San Sebastien & Galicia(SPAIN);Playa Del Carmen(MEXICO); & London (UK).

Nappy G has also previously performed in clubs & festivals throughout Israel,Switzerland, Ireland,Scotland, England,Spain, Argentina,Brazil,Italy,Portugal,Turkey,Mexico,Puerto Rico,Spain,Japan,Korea,Germany,Greece,Austria,Czech Republic, Romania,Slovakia,Bulgaria,Poland,Serbia,Kosovo,& Albania.(’98-Present);

As a Producer, in Feb. 2011 Nappy G had his original track "Gong Hay Fat Choi (Happy New Year)" released on the Starbucks compilation cd, "World Is China" ("http://www.starbucks.com/blog/happy-chinese-new-year-of-the-rabbit-/658), as well as having one of his original compositions used in a nationally-aired tv commercial (Schick).

In 2011,Nappy G also has remixed tracks for groups/solo artists from Tokyo, Zurich & New York City, as well as made numerous dj-mixes (some of which are featured on this website's "Podcast" section).

As a DJ/Producer, Nappy G continues to collaborate with his many talented friends,who are singers/rappers/musicians/spoken word artists.

Nappy G has garnered internet buzz this year with his directorial debut for the band THE PIMPS OF JOYTIME, on the song "Take The L-Train", as well as for his performance in the crazy video "Power of Weed",which features him & his friend/co-conspirator MC Extra Cheese. Together with comic rapping maestro M.C.E.C.,these unique underground icons have joined forces to create an irreverent 2-man hiphop team with an edgy,mature sense of humor that plays like a Rorshach test for rap lovers everywhere.

Jan. 2010 marked the release of this team's 2nd official collaboration as a rapper/producer duo,with M.C.Extra Cheese's solo cd,"The 40-Year Old Rapper";a 14-song hilarious,yet funky,exploration into deep beats & wild thoughts,combined with crazy lifestyles & their effects over many years. Anybody who grew up with hiphop since it began will understand where this music is coming from. And if not,the humor & the rhythms are still undeniable. This cd release features a bonus additional dvd package,containing 5 over-the-top music videos for new songs from the cd, 9 funny music videos from MCEC's 1st solo cd" '86 GL",a Cheese-y short film directed by Johnny Shah,& the much-talked about pilot episode for the upcoming "M.C.Extra Cheese:40 Yr.Old Rapper" television series,directed & written by Darien Sills-Evans.

Percussionist/MC/DJ for “Turntables On The Hudson” cd's(Vol.1-6) & countless outdoor parties,including 2 New York Summerstage events,with Nickodemus & Mariano(’98-Present);

Original M.C.,timbale player & conguero for NYC’s legendary "Giant Step" parties(’91-‘96);

Founding member,and M.C./frontman, of New York’s original " Groove Collective"(’93-’00), a 10-man band which pioneered Acid Jazz in the U.S.A. & during this time recorded 4 full-length cd’s, and toured all over North America,South America,Europe & Asia,including a 7-day stint @The Blue Note/Tokyo,Japan ('97);also,featured weekend slots at the Newport Jazz Fest/Nagano(JP) & over 30 European Jazz Festivals,including Montreux,Peruggia,North Sea,Istanbul & many others.
